Automatic Driver's Licence Extension
Any customer who holds a Driver’s Licence that expired on or after August 24, 2009 because of the need for a test will continue to be covered under the automatic Driver’s Licence extension put in place by the Ministry of Transportation (MTO). This includes renewal tests required by seniors, commercial drivers and non-commercial drivers.
The regulation extending driver licenses will be revoked on September 1, 2010. Licence holders will need to successfully complete test requirements before September 1, 2010 to remain licenced.
If you are traveling outside Ontario with an expired Driver’s Licence, you may download an official letter from the MTO website regarding this extension. This letter can be shown to law enforcement officials in other jurisdictions if required.
